'Cotto/Gottfried': 'We the People!' -- does that mean corporations too? It's complicated, as Adam Winkler explains.

Corporations are people too; the Supreme Court ruled as much in its landmark 'Citizens United' decision -- now almost ten years behind us. What does it mean when the law considers corporations to have individual rights? Obviously it is not quite the same as a human beings enjoying the same, but similarities persist. What is going on here and why is this so important for average Americans to understand? Adam Winkler, a constitutional law professor at UCLA, is the author of 'We the Corporations: How American Businesses Won Their Civil Rights.' On this episode of 'Cotto/Gottfried,' he joins us to discuss the history of how America's legal system has considered corporate rights and what this means for the concept of civil rights itself, among other matters.
