Abortion is a perennially controversial matter in American politics. Many politicians use it as a political football; riling up voters on the basis of when, if ever, abortion should be protected by law. The ethical concerns in this politicized matter, however, often go overlooked. Peter Singer, a Princeton University professor and author of several books, is our time's most prominent bioethicist.
