Book Review: 'Insolence' by Lex Valentine

This short novella “packs a punch”. In a few short pages, the author tells a full story of a complex friendship full of undeclared love and fear of rejection.
The story begins in the middle of a weekend that will change our characters’ lives forever. Ainsley has come looking for Aric. He is her lifelong friend and now she is asking him to let her be his submissive for a weekend. Aric is in a panic because this is the last thing he expected. He has loved Ainsley all his life and never done anything about it for fear of rejection and losing her friendship. Let us face it; he cannot turn down this offer. He is a Dom and has always wanted her… his dream come true.
The emotions expressed here are from Aric’s point of view. We are able to feel what he feels through the author’s well-written prose. The love scenes are SCORCHING HOT. Aric is surprised when he finally realizes the depth of feeling he has for Ainsley. He realizes he does not want her as his submissive but as his equal in the game of BDSM with the promise of alternating roles. His feelings were very real to me and made me believe this man had been changed by this experience.
As the weekend ends, decisions have to made as to the future of their relationship. The author once again surprises all by the disclosure of Ainsley’s true feelings. I could only sigh and hope for their future at their end. This story is definitely recommended for those of you wanting a short read that “packs a punch”, full of feeling and life changing emotions.
