Book Review: 'Imperfect Mate' by Lia Davis

A great new read from Lia Davis ! I don’t read many books in the New Adult genre, but I enjoyed this one. It’s a sweet shifter romance with lead characters that I wanted to get to know better. It’s a short one, but a compelling read all the same.
It’s Samira’s first time away from her home and the pack. She’s come to Harmony Springs to attend university and explore her new world. She unexpectantly finds her mate. Now, Gavin is a human so the story has a tiny bit of the forbidden romance element at first. It doesn’t bring about as much conflict as I’d hoped though. Still, it’s a good story because Sam and Gavin do have some differences before discovering that they have some things in common as well. Sam is a dominant Tiger, her cat is very agressive, and that plays a big part here. Then there is the suspense element. Things get out of hand because there is a bully on campus and Sam makes it her mission to take care of the situation.
The characters were wonderful. I liked how Sam was such a strong heroine, looking out for everyone. Actually, I liked Gavin even more though. He takes this new world in stride, recognizes that his mate’s strength, and still finds a way to take charge when the need arises.
In an itty bitty nutshell, this was a great story. Of course, I want more …..
