Book Review: 'His Boy' by Bink Cummings

‘Motorcycle Club’ Author Bink Cummings was born and raised as part of a biker family. She now writes erotica and turns to M/M themes for this novel- the very popular HIS BOY. Of note, Bink places warnings in her book that the story involves ‘father/son ’type relationships, but that is not the case. The disparity in ages – 16 years between the two main characters - is not so strange these days, so don’t be afraid of being offended by the subject matter.

Bink places this novel in Carolina Rose, Kentucky and jumps right into her story practically from page one with a speedy workup to the erotica between her characters. To quote, ‘Justin and I have been roommates for three years, sleeping in separate bedrooms, sharing close friends, running in the same circles. I’d met him through Carrie, a mutual friend of ours, who thought since we were the only two gay men she knew that we’d automatically hit it off, and fall madly in love. The former was true immediately. We became fast friends, even though Justin is sixteen years older than me, and a bossy firefighter. He’s dark haired, tall, broad, and somewhat hairy in all the right places. I’m the nerd. I wear black-rimmed glasses, have messy blond hair, and work from home doing secretive computer stuff. I could go into specifics, but that’s for another time. I’m at least five inches shorter than Justin, about fifty pounds lighter, and my muscles are lean, whereas his aren’t. He’s most men’s wet dream. Except mine. Or he wasn’t up until six months ago.’

The quickies synopsis just states, ‘For years, I lived with him as roommates. Then, one fateful night, things changed. We became more. So much more. The sex was out of this world. Being his boy was the highlight of my day. Until feelings started to creep in and sex wasn't enough for me. Afraid of losing him, I kept quiet and hoped for a miracle... Could my Daddy love me, too? Or would I continue to be his boy… his play toy?’

Bink adds another leather strap to her helmet with this hot and steamy erotic novella. A fast read that makes a solid impression. Grady Harp, August 16
