Book Review: 'Danny The Firefly' by D.H. Gibbs

Caribbean author DH Gibbs presents her second book for children –DANNY THE FIREFLY. She is also an artist, a fact that serves her well with this fine little book.

Danny is a firefly whose explorations of the world and seeking adventures are, because of the nature of the beast, confined to nighttime. Seeing the world as Danny sees it is illuminating for children and the very fact that this is a happy story about the night makes it s perfect bedtime story for children who may fear the dark. Gibbs writes in a charming verse patter and keep her little story short – just the right length for a child to ask for at least one re-read before the lights go out – and maybe they will see Danny at the window. Very nice little story for children. Grady Harp, April 16
