Book Review: 'Get Lucky' by Lila Monroe

Los Angeles author Lila Monroe combines her love of writing, sex and well-fitted suits by writing sassy rom-com romances about hardheaded men and the strong women who try to tame them. GET LUCKY is Book 1 in her ongoing series THE LUCK IN LOVE SERIES of which there are 6 volumes to date!

Lila wastes no time at all plunging the reader not a steamy erotic escape mode. ‘Lola Sinclair, BDSM sexpert and awesome international spy, doesn’t even exist; I just write books about her.’ – That is the opener as stated by Julia our heroine in this tantalizing sexual fantasy in Las Vegas. ‘I turn to find a stubbled, ruggedly handsome face on the other pillow. The man wakes up slowly, bedroom eyes dreamy. His dark hair is tousled from what must have been an athletic night. The smile stretched across his face slowly collapses as he takes me in, and his eyes widen with shock.’ You get the atmosphere.

The language is raw and naughty enough that quoting lines from any page risks offending, but the sanitized version of the summary helps a bit to get ready: ‘What happens when you wake up in a hotel suite next to a gorgeous naked man with absolutely no memory of the past twelve hours? I guess it's true what they say. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Or at least I hope it stays here. The Romantic Style convention was meant to be a weekend of raucous fun with friends, sun, and enough poolside margaritas to forget about my ex. But now, instead of meeting my fans and signing books, I'm stuck with cocky divorce lawyer Nate Wexler. He's arrogant, infuriating, and I can't keep my hands off of him. Judging by the state of our hotel room, last night was wild. I just wish I could remember it. A pair of matching tattoos. A cheap wedding veil… What just happened?

Chick Lit for the ravenous fans – it doesn’t get more erotic than this! And the cover is terrific! Grady Harp, January 18
