Book Review: 'Talking to Crazy: How to Deal with the Irrational and Impossible People in Your Life' by Mark Goulston

Talking to Crazy: How to Deal with the Irrational and Impossible People in Your Life
By Mark Goulston

Review by Rebecca Johnson

"Talking to Crazy" is an inside look at dealing with irrational people. Mark Goulston is especially witty and clever and uses psychological tricks to help you defeat bad situations. He balances his sane advice with really interesting stories about how things work in reality. There are great tips for avoiding an amygdala hijack. There are breathing exercises you can practice and explanations as to what cortisol and adrenaline can make you think. This book is very entertaining but also sometimes lol funny. Mark Goulston believes there are things that you can say to people that will stop them in their tracks and he is right. However when dealing with very smart people you may still come up against some resistance. If you try the ideas in this book realize that you should do so at your own risk. Use wisdom in any situation and don't push people to a breaking point.
